Sit down for this one, because it might just be the biggest René news ever. René le Blanc has written a song for his great idol Engelbert Humperdinck — and not just any song. "Always My Love" is the only newly written song on Engelbert's new album Faithfully. On a record full of rock classics, there is exactly one original song. And it came from the pen of our own René. 😱💙
Just to be clear, because there was some confusion at first: René does not sing the song himself. He is the writer. Engelbert Humperdinck — the global superstar, the man behind Release Me and more than 140 million records sold — sings it. The official album credits list the track as "Always My Love" feat. René le Blanc, in recognition of its author.
📌 The news in seven lines
- Who: René le Blanc, writer of the song (together with Rene Ursinus)
- What: the track "Always My Love"
- For whom: global superstar Engelbert Humperdinck, who sings it
- Album: Faithfully — track 12 of 15
- The remarkable part: it is the only newly written song on the entire record
- Out since: 28 August 2026, via Cleopatra Records
- What it is: a brand-new, personal ballad
How it actually happened
No management deal with ten middlemen, no years of lobbying. René wrote a song together with Rene Ursinus, sent in a demo… and got the green light almost immediately. As simple and as huge as that. His song now forms the heart of the new album by one of the greatest crooners of all time.
On his official channels, René shared how he felt as he travelled to Germany to hear the song at Engelbert's side for the first time:
"For the first time I will hear the song Always My Love that I wrote last year together with Rene Ursinus for this global star. An honour — I cannot explain to you what I feel. PROUD." 🙏💙

Dutch TV shows such as Shownieuws covered the news too: "René le Blanc wrote the song Always My Love for global star Engelbert Humperdinck."
Why "the only new song" says so much
Faithfully is an ambitious fifteen-track album on which Engelbert puts his own stamp on famous rock songs by Journey, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss and Aerosmith, among others, carried by lush orchestral and string arrangements. Fourteen of those fifteen tracks are reinterpretations of existing classics.
And then there is one brand-new, original song. One. And that one was written by René le Blanc.
A cover you share with the artist who made it. A new song on your album you choose yourself — and then you choose a writer you trust.
Of all the songwriters in the world, the only original track on Engelbert's new record carries the name of a Dutchman who was affectionately called "the Dutch Engelbert Humperdinck" for years. The circle is not merely complete — it has turned into a laurel wreath.
Bigger than anything before it
- The breakthrough with If I Tell You put René on the map with the wider Dutch audience — but the reach stopped at the border.
- The breakthrough in Germany, including the duet with schlager legend Peter Orloff, added a second language region.
- This is an original song, written by René, on an international release by an artist played on every continent. This is not "one more country" — this is the whole world, and this time as a writer.
When and where to hear it
- Album Faithfully: out since 28 August 2026 via Cleopatra Records, on all streaming services and on CD and vinyl.
- "Always My Love": track 12 on the album — the only newly written song.
- World tour: Engelbert announced a tour across North America, Europe and beyond.
The company it keeps
The guest list of Faithfully reads like a music history book: Jonathan Cain of Journey, keyboard legend Rick Wakeman, Grammy winner Al Di Meola, Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson, blues rock guitarist Eric Gales and Harvey Mandel of Canned Heat. And right in the middle of it all sits our René's song.
What a journey for René
First Tropical Nights, then the studio session with Peter Orloff, and now a song of his own on the album of his great idol. From "the Dutch Engelbert Humperdinck" to writer for the real Engelbert Humperdinck: the story does not get better than this.
A boyhood dream come true: his idol sings his song.
And it stands as the only new song on the album. PROUD. 💙
